At Job&Talent, we are recruiting for a Class 1 Driver to work with Gist UK in Woodthorpe. We are looking for a reliable HGV Class 1 driver to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently across various locations. Successful candidates will be hardworking and self-motivated, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining vehicle standards.

Shift Patterns

• Gist Chesterfield operate 7 days per week on a 24 hour spin, offering flexible shift patterns and start times.

Pay Rates

• 17.33 GBP hourly

Essential Requirements for Class 1 Driver

• Full UK Driving Licence (C+E)
• Digital Tachograph Card + CPC (Driver Qualification)
• 12+ Months Minimum Class 1 Driving Experience
• No More than 6 points on Licence (Including DR, DD, IN, TT)

Desirable Requirements for Class 1 Driver

• Previous Class 1 driving experience (6+ months preferred)
• Experience with RDC / trunking / store deliveries
• Familiarity with different trailer types: Curtainsiders, Refrigerated units, Box trailers
• Good knowledge of UK road network and major distribution centres
• Experience completing PODs, delivery paperwork, or handheld scanners
• Strong customer service skills when dealing with site staff or clients
• Experience with manual handling and safe loading/unloading
• Flexible and proactive attitude towards overtime and varied shifts
• Strong focus on road safety and vehicle checks
• Reliability & punctuality – consistently on time and dependable for shifts
• Professional attitude – represents the company well at all times
• Good problem-solving skills – able to handle delays, route changes, or issues calmly and effectively
• Attention to detail – careful with paperwork, vehicle checks, and delivery instructions
• Team player – works well with transport office, loaders, and other drivers
• Customer-focused approach – polite and respectful when dealing with clients and delivery points
